My ideas usually come not at my desk writing, but in the midst of living.

I absolutely love designing products for people to use over and over in their daily lives.  Friends tell me that they display my set of Christmas plates every year, that it's become a tradition to look carefully and "read" all the different stories on each plate.  I'll often include little personal stories in my art, and on the Christmas plates our Westies Rex and Libby can be found upstairs in bed while Santa tucks packages under the tree.  Libby is keeping one eye open, as usual.

The recipe organizer binders I created are personally meaningful because I keep my mother's and grandmother's original recipe cards in one binder, recipes from my friends in another.  While creating the divider tabs, I decided to design uniquely-shaped platters for the meat, seafood, veggies and other food categories.  (Can you tell I enjoy food and wine??)

Researching and creating stories within each illustration makes it fun for me, and more entertaining for the viewers of my work.
